- Barry was a work in his heyday, cast in the artist's studio, a gold medal work at the 1855 Paris Exposition, and the original plaster version was first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1850. The work depicts a ferocious jaguar devouring its prey, with its hind legs bent and prostrate on its body, biting the hindquarters of a rabbit, leaving the frightened rabbit at its mercy. The jaguar's powerful body and well-developed muscles contrast sharply with the rabbit's soft and weak body, perfectly capturing the jaguar's tense dynamics. THE BASE OF THE WORK IS SIGNED BY THE ARTIST A.L.BARYE.
